The elder Whitney was a successful businessman and twice ran as a Republican for office in Minnesota, losing to Eugene McCarthy in a Senate race in 1964 and losing again in the Gubernatorial election in 1982 to Rudy Perpich. The book looks perfect, but the lower corner of the text block has experienced some moisture and has rippled most of the pages about two inches out from the spine.
