Light tanning block to ffep, which has a patch of rubbing to base. 255pp. Occasional light foxing spot, otherwise contents clean and bright. Light foxing to edges of the block. Alexander Weissberg-Cybulski (born October 8, 1901 - April 4, 1964 was a Polish-Austrian physicist, writer and businessman of Jewish descent. His testimony in the trial David Rousset vs. Les Lettres francaises and his book The Accused contributed significantly to spreading knowledge about Stalinist terror and show trials in Western Europe. He also wrote Advocate for the Dead which tells the story of Joel Brand and examines the working of the Jewish underground movement in Hungary and other places during the Second World War. Joel Brand (25 April 1906 - 13 July 1964) was a member of the Budapest Aid and Rescue Committee that smuggled Jews out of German-occupied Europe to the relative safety of Hungary, during the Holocaust. When Germany invaded Hungary in March 1944, Brand became known for his efforts to save the Jewish community from deportation to the Auschwitz concentration camp in occupied Poland and the gas chambers there.
