For several decades, P…eter Schroeder-Heister has been a central figure in proof-theoretic semantics, a field of study situated at the interface of logic, theoretical computer science, natural-language semantics, and the philosophy of language. The chapters of which this book is composed discuss the subject from a rich variety of angles, including the history of logic, the proper interpretation of logical validity, natural deduction rules, the notions of harmony and of synonymy, the structure of proofs, the logical status of equality, intentional phenomena, and the proof theory of second-order arithmetic. Jahrhundert waren der Ausgangspunkt für den gewaltbereiten Widerstand gegen die britische Herrschaft und gegen die Unterdrückung durch die zumeist protestantische Oberschicht. Das Buch ist eine Einführung in diese Geheimbünde seit 1760 und erzählt die Geschichte der Gewaltkultur in Irland. Darüber hinaus gibt "Geheimbünde in Irland 1760-1870" einen Einblick in die Rituale und Strukturen dieser Gesellschaften und Gruppierungen und widmet ein Kapitel speziell dem Faction Fighting. Diese kuriose Mischung aus Sport und Gewalt war bis ins 19. Jahrhundert Bestandteil der Jahrmärkte in den ländlichen Gebieten Irlands und spielte auch bei späteren Geheimbünden eine tragende soziale Funktion. Zu guter Letzt wird die Entwicklung und der Zustand der Geheimbünde in Irland vom Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts bis ins Jahr 2008 beleuchtet.
