The dust jacket is near fine and enclosed in a jacket protector. This volume is the third printing and is a photo-lithogrphic facsimile of the original, and a centennial printing. The author Waterman L. Ormsby was the first through passenger in the Butterfield overland mailstage from east to west. He wrote numerous reports of his journey, which were originally printed in the New York Herald in September, October and November of 1858. Map endpapers, marking the stops of the stage coach journey, and a fold out frontis with a facsimile of the stage coach schedule on one side and special instructions sheet from the Butterfield Overland Mail Company on the other.
