Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. 1971 Soft Cover Text in Portuguese Interior clean. Wraps VG Walter Zanini offers a retrospective vision of the work of Vicente do Rêgo Monteiro, an artist from the state of Pernambuco, one year after his death. Professor Zanini's far-reaching analysis provides context for a chronological understanding of a multifaceted artist with a diverse body of work (do Rêgo Monteiro was not only a draftsman and painter, but also a poet, printer, and inventor). Through quotations and notes on the era, the artist's role in Brazilian and European Modernism is discussed along with the changes in his linguistic interests in the spheres of painting and poetry. Zanini clearly intends to legitimize do Rêgo Monteiro's work, while also informing Brazilian researchers of other "Modernists" from the state of Pernambuco, among them poet Manoel Bandeira, and artists Cícero Dias and Joaquim Cardozo.

Encuadernación de tapa blanda. Condition: Bueno. 1ª Edición. Poeticas Visuais. 29/09/1977 - 30/10/1977 Museu de Arte Contemporânea da Universidade de São Paulo. Julio Plaza (Curador) | Walter Zanini (Curador). Exposição produzida pelo MAC USP. Main brazilian artists: Regina Silveira, Gabriel Borba, Gretta Sarfaty, Paulo Bruscky and Julio Plaza. Soft cover, pp. 54. The exhibition became a fundamental milestone for avant-garde art in Brazil. It challenged traditional art mediums and connected Brazilian artists to a vast international network of alternative art circuits. The exhibition brought together 201 national and international artists. The core objective was to investigate image as language and propose free-thinking reflections through mass communication tools and reproducible mediums. The main highlight of the show was the use of Mail Art (Arte Postal). A large portion of the experimental works was sent through the postal service by artists across Latin America and Europe, effectively bypassing the restrictions and censorship imposed by military dictatorships at the time. Alongside the Prospectiva 74 exhibition (held at the same museum in 1974), Poéticas Visuais consolidated MAC USP as the leading hub for conceptual and multimedia art in Brazil during the 1970s. The show successfully decentralized the traditional art market and stripped away the aura of the "unique artwork" by encouraging the public to reproduce and share the pieces. Covers has been restored.
