Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition, Limited Edition. According to the Preface (written by Mrs. Charles S. Fairchild, as per the laid-in business card): "This sketch of the life of Horatio Seymour, and partcularly that part which has to do with his administration as Governor of the Stat…e of New York during the war of 1861-1865, is the result of my gathering many of his scattered papers and the personal reminiscences of his friends who came in close contact with him, and placing them in the archives of the New York Historical Society." Please see the photo of said Preface for the bigger picture of this book compiled by his niece. This book is from "An edition of 300 copies.printed 100 per cent all-rag paper of which this is No. 47, copyright 1929 by Mrs. Charles S. Fairchild. The hard covers are clean and bright and so too the gilt titles on the cover; those on the spine are a bit faded. The boards are just faintly bumped. Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages are clean and bright thoughout without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book tells the fascinating story of two equestrian statues erected in 18th-century New York City honoring King George III and William Pitt. Both statues, commissioned in 1766 as an expression of gratitude and respect, mirrored the intertwined history between Great Britain and Amer…ica during the Revolutionary War era. The statues' divergent fates symbolize the tumultuous events of the time, as George III's effigy was toppled and melted down for bullets, while Pitt's statue, though damaged, was preserved and serves as a poignant reminder of the era's complexities. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
