An early impression of satirical verses in imitation of Giuseppe Parini's iconic Il Mattino (1763) and Il Mezzo…giorno (1765), two burlesques on the decadence of Milanese aristocratic youth. La Sera, intended as a continuation of Parini's poems, describes the ceremony of "Il Giovin Signore" entertaining his young lady in a theatre box as her cicisbeo, or walker 'passando l'ore vanno insieme gli amabili garzoni, e le pudiche giovanette spose, in sacrificio placido amoroso' (p.6). Valmaggi 1 mentions the value of this work as a source for the history of costume, especially on matters not treated by Parini. The Veronese poet, Mutinelli, was one of several imitators of Parini (1729-99) from whose literary fame he profited. In his preface, entitled 'La Moda',and in several footnotes he refers to Parini's Mattino and Mezzogiorno. First published in Verona in the previous year.
