Condition: Fair. 1963. First Published in GB. 174 pages. This is an ex-Library book. Pictorial dust jacket over blue cloth. Ex-Library copy, with expected inserts and inscriptions. Black and white photographic plates throughout. Slight cracking to gutters causing binding to be loose, however pages remain attached. Pages and plates have light tanning and foxing throughout. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Slight crushing to spine ends. Paper residue to front board. Tape marks to both boards. Unclipped jacket has moderate edgewear with chips, tears, and creasing. Water staining to edges. Light tanning to spine and edges.

Tales told to the Author by aborigines during his many patrols through the Northern Territories. From 1940-1947, he served as a patrol officer and protector of Aborigines under the Native Affairs Branch of the Northern Territory, coming to the job with more than 20 years experience with the tribes. The latter finished The Shady Tree from notes after Harney died leaving it half completed. Harney wrote 10 "dinkum Aussie" books and his last covered wanderings in many outback areas.
