The Genesis of the Printed Minutes and Observations on the Theological Profile of the Flemish Mennonites] Not only because of its meticulous analysis of the voluminous source material relating to the Emden Disputation of 1578, this study represents a milestone in the research on Anabaptism in the Low Countries. A close scrutiny of the handwritten minutes revealed a complex process in the history of their transmission. In this context, the »Mennonite« secretary Carel van Ghendt, sympathizing with the Reformed party, has been identified as the author of »Het beginsel der scheuringen onder de Doops-gesinden«.
