Condition: Fair. 1922. No Edition Remarks. 219 pages. No dust jacket. Illustrated paper covered boards with grey cloth spine and lettering. Contains black and white and colour illustrations. Prize plate stuck to front pastedown. Pages and binding are presentable with no major defects. Minor issues present such as mild cracking, inscriptions, inserts, light foxing, tanning and thumb marking. Boards have noticeable shelf wear with rubbing and corner bumping. Moderate sunning and marking. Minor scuffing to edges and corners. Lettering is clear. Boards are bowed.

Boards have noticeable edge wear with corner bumping and rubbing to surfaces. Moderate crushing to spine ends.

Wrapper now in removable clear protective sleeve. Previous owners details to free front end paper, no other inscriptions, illustrated, bright and clean internally with very little wear, some slight spotting to edge of text block. Heavy book, will require additional postage outside the UK.

[1926]. 228pp, with colour plate frontispiece, coloured vignette on title page, and further monochrome and coloured full page illustrations interleaved in text. Paper-covered boards, with coloured illustration, red lettering front and spine. 8vo. Covers are heavily toned, rubbed and scuffed, rounded and bumped at corners and spine ends, faded over spine. Three previous owner's inscriptions on front endpapers, one crossed out. Text block edges toned and spotted. Endpapers browned and spotted, otherwise generally neat and clean internally, barring a little softness to pages. A lovely vintage children's story with delightful illustrations, and now very hard to find.

Hardback: b/w frontispiece (Joan Martin May), dj is slightly worn on the spine tips and corners, a couple of short tears, spine faded, price clipped, book is bound in cloth, spine is faded and slightly foxed, some foredge foxing, else vg. 8vo, 255pp. Janet Raeburn may be plump and has no particular accomplishments, apart from a love of playing the violin, but is always happy. But that is put to the test when she is forced to leave school and go to France as a governess.

Reprint good green cloth hardcover with good clipped dustjacket. 255p. Spine sunned, light foxing on page edges and endpapers. Award plate attached to front endpaper (Daphne Brown, Balgowleh Methodist Sunday School) Janet is plump and unaccomplished except for violin playing, but she is cheerful and makes the best of things.
