Rebacked in red cloth. Title-page and preface age-toned; short marginal tears to pp. 45 and 48; pages 49-50 with minor tape repairs to verso margins. A few le…aves trimmed close to the page numbers, possibly during rebacking. Despite these faults, a very clean and attractive copy of this scarce and imaginative work, which follows a fantastical dream voyage to the moon by air balloon, exploring its curious races and fearsome monsters. Rare, with few institutional holdings listed in OCLC. This edition appears to feature a variant cover, differing from others seen at auction or in listings. The binding is in paper-covered boards titled in black and gold, with an illustration of a balloon flying through clouds-similar in format to the cloth-bound issue, but more decorative than another known issue in paper boards. Housed in a modern card slipcase.
