"One of the most important systematic reforms since the work of Cuvier. In it Siebold divided the Radiata into groups and characterized the Protozoa as single-celled organisms" (D.S B. 12: 421). See Garrison-Morton 5340 for Siebold's 1854 monograph Ueber die Band- und Blasenwürmer. and Garrison-Morton 5354 for his 1845 article on the hookworm. Stannius's "outstanding monograph was the second volume of Lehrbuch der vergleichenden Anatomie (1846)" (D.S.B. 12: 612).
