LEADING CZECH SCI-FI AUTHOR Josef Nesvadba (1926-2005) was part of the wildly popular speculative fiction wave that flourished in Czechoslovakia during the early twentieth century. As a pioneer in group psychotherapy, Nesvadba's stories harness the West's fascination with emerging psychological trends and the horrors of Nazism, not yet left behind. As a skeptic of the communist regime moving through Czechlosavakia, Nesvadba also used his short stories to satirize the government's grandiose dreams of paradise. These stories first appeared in Urwin's translation of Vampires Ltd. in 1964 but appear here for the first time in a volume of their own. Slightly bowed front board, gently foxed edges, pen triangle to ffep, else near fine, in near fine dust jacket, with lightly toned spine, slightly rubbed spine head, several short closed tears to edges, in mylar cover. Publisher's full red cloth, in printed dust jacket [30/- [£1.50] net] First English translation, first printing.
