Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book chronicles the incredible life of Carlos Troyer, a man who befriended royalty and luminaries of their day, including Franz Liszt and President Theodore Roosevelt. Born in Germany in 1837, Troyer's early musical training led him on adventures as a musician and explorer throughout the American continents. His passion for understanding the indigenous peoples of South and Central America led him to live among the Zuni tribe in the southwestern United States. Spending over 30 years living with this ancient and secretive people, Troyer learned their esoteric tribal teachings and witnessed their sacred ceremonies, gaining profound knowledge of their unique culture and religious practices. His writings on the Zuni people are considered groundbreaking and provide an invaluable record of their traditions and beliefs. They were instrumental in changing views on Native American culture at a time when rampant stereotypes dominated society. Troyer's deep respect for the Zuni way of life and dedication to understanding their culture has left a lasting legacy, illuminating a path towards greater understanding and appreciation of Native American heritage.
