The next page is numbered 791. Pagination continues through page 1292, which is followed by a leaf mis-numbered at 1281. Following that, unpaginated Index Primus Qui Est Auctorum for 32 page. Then "Index Secundus" for 72 pages. Then "Index Tertius" for another 60 or so pages. Then "Index Quartus" and "Quintus" for another 200 or so pages. Pages clean and well preserved, well printed. First page has been reinforced at the edges with strips of new paper. Early ownership name on title page and two others on free endpaper. Contains Tiniri's commentary on the whole of the New Testament as well as the minor prophets in the Old; Joel, Amos, Abdias, Jonas and others. Text in Latin. Jacob Tirinius was a Belgian Jesuit scholar. This commentary in two volumes was his best known work. First edition of this 2nd volume. Several nice woodcuts throughout. The work by this Jesuit author was highly regarded in the 17th-18th centuries -- and still is. Bookblock is very good; pages are clean and crisp. The binding (not original) is marbled paper over heavy cardboard; s…prinkled edges; spines are quarter leather. When it was rebound and trimmed some tips of the running titles were nipped but no text is lost. Set was from a [now closed] Capuchin monastery in Wisconsin; has Dewey call no. in white ink on spines. Edges of covers are worn. Some water stains. There are some nice engravings: title-page; dedication; initial letters; colophon. One page (1205) is torn. The first 96 pages are introductory: on the study of Scripture; the canonical books; geography and antiquities of the Holy Land; sacred chronology; weights and measures; Hebrew and Greek idioms; etc. There are 5 tables (some folded). Laid in is a folded map 14x34 inches: the borders on 3 sides have 18 engraved emblems related to the Temple of Solomon. -- Vol. 1 has commentary on Genesis through Daniel. Vol. 2 has the minor prophets, the New Testament, and 5 indexes: authors cited; names and subjects; controversial topics; biblical "antilogiarum;" sermon topics for the gospels of the church year: Sundays and major feasts. --- We are a Benedictine Monastery/Seminary Library; thank you for your support.

Inoltre in basso a centro, entro un cartiglio a volute, si trova la raffigurazione planimetrica della città di Gerusalemme basata sul celebre modello di Villalpando. Prima edizione stampata ad Anvera nel 1632. Esemplare in perfetto stato di conservazione caratterizzato da vivace ed omogenea inchiostratura.
