(p. 20) -- To his eldest son Wilfrid, Movember 6th, 1881: "Mr. Frith is making a picture of `The Private View' at the Royal Academy. The scene is the large room; the time, last May. Several principal figures are introduced, and mine is to be one of the most prominent. There is some fun in the picture, for it introduces some of the aesthetic ladies of the day. Also one, Oscar Wilde, who is a sort of lady-killer poet of these times.'
