Hardcover. Condition: Fair. 1st Edition. Rare original 1897 first edition of "Placer Mining: A Hand-Book for Klondike and Other Miners and Prospectors. With Introductory Chapters Regarding the Recent Gold Discoveries in the Yukon Valley. The Routes to the Gold Fields, Outfit Required, and Mining Regulations of Alaska and the Canadian Yukon." The book is overall in fair condition with signs of wear and age. This copy lacks the map it was originally issued with. The covers have some mild soiling and wear. There is some cracking to the interior hinges, but the binding is still good and sound. Page 86 & 139 have some blue ink squiggle lines with some offset ink markings to the adjacent pages, and there are an additional couple of pages with another minor marking. A few pages have a creased page corner, a tiny marginal chip or tear (not affecting any text), or minor grubby mark. Along with that there may be the very occasional page with some kind of other minor imperfection. The book measures approximately 7 1/2 inches by 5 1/4 inches and is 146 pages long.
