About 90 un-numbered stiff card pages, all edges gilt, fully illustrated with colour photos, oversized format in white patterned stiff card covers. Illustrations of passages from the Bible, as interpreted by contemporary artists inc Tillmans. Visionaire state "Our millennium issue: Òthe greatest story ever told" retold in images by modern-day artists and photographers. The intent was to make an issue that was visually provocative but not blasphemous or gratuitously shocking. We worked closely with Dr. Royal Rhodes, professor of religion at Kenyon College, who helped us excerpt passages from the King James Bible. Wolfgang Tillmans contributed the Crucifixion; Andreas GurskyÕs image of a rave becomes the Exodus; Mary Ellen Mark envisions a modern day Mary and Joseph; and Steven Meisel imagines the Apocalypse in a series of eerily foreboding fashion images inspired by the painter Odd Nerdrum. Visionaire collaborated with industrial designer Philippe Starck to create special packaging for the issue, a molded-plastic Òenergy sphere." Very good indeed.

Their Uncensored publication, limited to 2500 copies and edited by Peruvian photographer Mario Testino, highlights sexually provocative work from artists like Catherine Chalmers, Amie Dicke, Wim Delvoye, Cecily Brown, Sam Taylor-Wood, and Ghada Amer. The book itself is an interactive, tactile experience, utilizing a variety of mediums including photo negative inserts, embroidery, and perforated paper. The issue also includes a portfolio of Testino's own unpublished work, including five original prints and a swatch of model Gisele Bündchen's bed linens. The unusual design makes some elements more fragile than others. In particular, a pen and ink drawing by Raymond Pettibon, designer of the famous Black Flag logo, has shattered inside the pages and left a ghost on the preceding page.
