Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - Cervelli Di Delinquenti, Superficie Interna (Brains of Delinquents, Internal Surface) by Lorenzo Tenchini, is a detailed anatomical study focusing on the brains of criminals. This 'Third Memoir' presents research in anatomy, likely examining the physical characteristics and abnormalities found in the brains of individuals identified as criminals. Published in 1891, this work offers a glimpse into the historical intersection of medicine, criminology, and anatomical science.Tenchiniâ?(TM)s research provides insight into the now-outdated field of criminal anthropology and the historical attempts to find biological explanations for criminal behavior. This book will be of interest to historians of medicine, criminology, and those studying the history of forensic science and anatomical research. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the convolutions and fissures found in the brains of criminals, a subject previously examined by the author in a separate work. The author maintains that anthropological studies, from which some believe important resolutions can be drawn, should primarily be informed by extensive, repeated, and dispassionate anatomical observation, particularly in the complex region of spoken-temporo-occipital thought. The intricate and complex questions surrounding the nature of delinquency are worthy of consideration, and the author believes that anatomical research directed at these questions can contribute a solid foundation of rigorously interpreted facts, upon which conclusions can be reliably drawn. The author faithfully cites observations from individual cases relevant to particular anatomical features and has conveniently summarized these observations in a comprehensive table at the end, serving as a helpful reference guide. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book investigates the anatomy of the brains of criminals convicted of violent offenses in 19th-century Italy. It's based on a rigorous analysis of 130 preserved brains by the renowned anatomist, Luigi Tenchini. The author offers a detailed description of the internal surface of the brain, focusing on the frontal, parietal, and occipital lobes. He meticulously examines the size, shape, and abnormalities of various brain structures, comparing them to a control group of non-criminals. Tenchini's findings suggest that certain brain characteristics may be linked to criminal behavior. For instance, he observed an unusually high prevalence of shallow sulci, which are grooves on the brain's surface, in the brains of violent criminals. He theorizes that this anomaly may indicate impaired cognitive function and emotional control. This book contributes to our understanding of the relationship between brain structure and behavior, shedding light on the biological factors that may influence criminal tendencies. It's a valuable resource for neuroscientists, criminologists, and anyone interested in the complex interplay between the brain and human behavior.
