The Wide World Magazine (1898-1965) captured the thrill of real-life adventure, bringing readers daring tales of exploration, survival, and discovery from across the globe. Robert Hutchison, who is a candidate for the Head mastership of Bath College, was my pupil during his residence as an Undergraduate at Exeter College Oxford, and I have much pleasure in certifying to the high charater he bore for industry and good behaviour during that period. He was Scholar of the College, and his scholarship was good and sound, as he proved by getting a First Class in Moderations. As I was one of the examiners on that occasion, I can add that his position in that class was decidedly a good one.'.…

Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. Lot of 40 titles from the Arno / New York Times Series The American Negro, His History and his literature. HEAVY Package - pickup can be arranged at our public storefront in downtown Manhattan. All told, the volumes are clean and well kept. From the home of a well regarded historian of Black studies. Also was a tobacco smoker, and that combined with age has led to occasional toning / darkening of the tan cloth part of these hardcover volumes - though without any consistency, it is present to some degree on nearly all. Faint odor as well, especially for those of sensitive nose, though to this seller it is not egregious. Besides that, the condition is pretty solid on all. Binding are all quite strong, sturdy, tight , square. No markings were found in any of the books, and no other damage to interiors at all. One volume has some fraying to the edge of the cloth of the front, and some of the volumes have lesser or greater degrees of rubbing, scuffing, dustsoiling, but all told clean beyond the toning. Uncommon to find so many in one place. Shipping will be extra ! pickup available in NYC.
