They often provide a unique option in treatment of superficial tumors that are less than 5 cm deep. The most clinically useful electron beams hav…e energies ranging from 6 MeV to 15 MeV. The principal applications of electrons are: (a) in the treatment of skin and lip cancers; (b) in chest wall irradiation for breast cancer; (c) in administering boost doses to nodes; and (d) in the treatment of head and neck cancers.This work focuses on the commissioning and QA of two types of treatment planning systems (Precise 3D and Focus 2D Plan) and it is carried out at Clinical Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Department Mansoura University Hospitals. The main aim of the work is the verification and validation process of the commissioning data for the TPS of advanced radiation therapy systems in two and three dimensions (Precise 3D and Focus 2D Plan) that are used to determine the radiotherapy treatment plane. The commissioning data were measured for all energies 6, 8, 10, 12, and 15 MeV linac (Elekta Precise). A comparison between the calculated PDD generated by TPSs and the experimental measureme.

This study carried out in Ayadi Almostkbal Oncology Center Alexandria, Egypt. All Dosimetric measurements were carried on siemens linear accelerator (ARTISTE) which produces photons with energy 6 and 10 MV. This study aimed to carrying out dosimetric and verification measurements for applying intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) technique on oncology patients. Dosimetry involves more than accounting for delivered dose. It involves ensuring that the MLC shapes are accurate and are correctly assigned to the patient.Any changes in shaping must be correctly and accurately incorporated into the field sequence. The information system should be implemented in a way that ensures good quality assurance practices.

This is a difficult task since it is impossible t…o deliver dose solely to the target volume without affecting healthy tissues, especially when deep seated tumors are treated with external beams. In patients treated with conventional radiotherapy, the primary obstacles to achieving the maximum possible therapeutic advantage are the uncertainties in the true extent of the disease, inadequate knowledge of the exact shapes and locations of normal structures. So, the tumor dose often has to be maintained at sub-optimal levels to prevent unacceptable normal tissue complications which lead to a higher probability of local failures. Today, conformal radiotherapy is widely used in the management of cancers, especially brain tumors. Conformal radiotherapy is a new irradiation technique made possible by technological improvements, especially progress in imaging and 3D dosimetry by conforming the volume irradiated as closely as possible to the clinical anatomical target volume.
