The Dust Jacket is bright with colors uniform throughout, and mostly intact with considerable wear at the corners and folds, and a large tear across the front panel closed from behind with archival, pH neutral materials, but only after removal of scotch tape that left a stain on the inside of the panel. An absurdist novel set in Oran, Algeria, originally published in French in 1947 by Gallimard as La Peste, the novel stresses the inability of individuals to affect their own destinies.
