ML 109.1; Toledano Binding Style 11, Dust Jacket…Back J1, dark gray Rockwell Kent endpapers. Fine in a Good+ Dust Jacket. The Text Block is clean, white, tight, straight and square with no markings of any kind. The Binding is full green cloth, color uniform throughout, with bright gilt title, etc., to the spine, gray Rockwell Kent endpapers with a prior owner's name faintly on the front free endpaper and no other markings, and all corners square and mostly sharp. The Dust Jacket is bright with colors uniform throughout, and mostly intact with considerable wear at the corners and folds, and a large tear across the front panel closed from behind with archival, pH neutral materials, but only after removal of scotch tape that left a stain on the inside of the panel. The original price ($2.45) is intact on the front flap. See the photos. 278, [ii] pages. 4 3/4" x 7 1/4". An absurdist novel set in Oran, Algeria, originally published in French in 1947 by Gallimard as La Peste, the novel stresses the inability of individuals to affect their own destinies. The Stuart Gilbert translation first appeared in 1948 in the British publication by Hamish Hamilton.
