Pour ce présent dictionnaire il s'est entouré d'une équipe d'experts pour la rédaction des articles, lui même s'occupant du travail d'édition et d'une grande partie des très nombreuses gravures d'illustration. On remarquera que certaines gravures sont reprises d'autres ouvrages, notamment du Roubo. Ce dictionnaire a nécessité plus de 5 ans de travail, il a été édité par souscriptions et sa parution s'est étalée progressivement entre 1900 et 1910 environ. Livres.
