Dark green leatherette over boards, with title on spine (rubbed and faded). Light scuffing to edges of boards. Binding tight. Aging and light spotting to endpapers. Pages lightly aged but otherwise unmarked. Later U.S. printing of this influential and controversial work on sex education and marital intimacy, first published in 1918. Marie Stopes (1880 - 1958), a British scientist, birth control advocate, and early sex educator, wrote Married Love to address the lack of information about sexual relations in marriage, particularly from a woman's perspective. The work was considered revolutionary and was initially rejected by multiple publishers before becoming a bestseller in both the UK and U.S. Its legacy is deeply entwined with early 20th-century sexual reform movements, though its association with eugenics (notably through this American publisher) has complicated its historical reception. Contents include chapters on sexual desire, abstinence, conception, marital roles, and mutual adjustment. The volume concludes with an appendix and charts, which are noted in the contents.
