Frontespizio figurato con doppia cornice intrecciata: la prima contiene il titolo dell'opera, la seconda presenta la veduta della città di Modena; inciso in rame da Antonio Baratti da disegni di Michelangelo Borghi. Importanti testatine, tra cui una con ritratto di Francesco III entro un tondo, capilettere e culs-de-lampe in calcografia. Mutilo della tavola all'antiporta. Coperta coeva in cartonato; tagli spruzzati in rosso. Discreto stato di conservazione: coperta usurata; sporadiche tracce di foxing, evidenza della struttura della legatura. Buono stato di conservazione generale per le carte interne. Esemplare stampato su carta forte. Raccolta poetica celebrativa che riunisce componimenti di numerosi autori tra i più autorevoli del periodo, tra cui Girolamo Tiraboschi e Ottaviano Muratori, nipote del celebre Lodovico Antonio Muratori, affiancati da altri letterati del Ducato di Modena e Reggio quali Araldi, Bettinelli, Cerretti e Paradisi. La pubblicazione fu realizzata in occasione della solenne inaugurazione della statua equestre di Francesco III, eretta in piazza Sant'Agostino a Modena il 24 aprile 1774; il monumento fu in seguito abbattuto e distrutto nel corso dell'occupazione francese del 1796. Buono stato di conservazione per le carte interne. La fondazione dell'Ospedale Estense di Modena risale alle riforme assistenziali promosse dal duca Francesco III, su suggerimento di Ludovico Antonio Muratori, che nel 1721 aveva creato l'Opera della Carità per i bisognosi. Nel 1753 fu approvato il progetto del Grande Ospedale degli Infermi, costruito sull'area del monastero e della chiesa di San Gerolamo, completato nel 1762 per accogliere invalidi e mendicanti. Le spese furono coperte dal duca, dalle comunità locali, dalle Arti, dalle confraternite, dalla Congregazione dell'Abbondanza, da donazioni private e dai proventi delle prime soppressioni ecclesiastiche, con un contributo di papa Benedetto XIV.
