Gesamthaft sehr ordentliches Exemplar - - Rückentitel: III [3] Schweizerische Broschüre…n - Barth 7140, 7975, 8170 (alle digitalis. in BVB/BSB) - Ad 1.: Schrift gegen die Berufung der Jesuiten an die höhere Lehranstalt von Kaspar Franz Joseph Mathias Dula (Luzern 1814-1892 Baden AG), von Buttisholz, Schulmann und Politiker, nach der Gründung des Bundesstaates in verschiedenen Funktionen Mitglied von Rat und Regierung in Luzern, 1867-1891 Seminardirektor und -Lehrer in Wettingen (HBLS; vgl. HLS). Dula, ein engagierter Gegner der Jesuitenberufung, schlug sich auch auf die Seite der Freischaren (s. dazu O. Marchi, Der erste Freischarenzug. 1971, bes. p. 77) -- Ad. 2.: Kritische Schrift zum Berner Dotationshandel (1833-1851), der durch eine hohe finanzielle Vergabe an das Inselspital ausgelöst wurde. "Durch die Urkunden vom 24. III. 1821 war das Geschäft der Ausscheidung des Burgervermögens der Stadt und des Staatsvermögens des Kantons Bern beendet worden, aber ein an sich zufälliger Umstand rief nach der Einsetzung des radikalen Regiments von 1831 Erörterungen hervor, aus denen sich der sog. Dotationsstreit zwischen der Stadt und dem Kanton entspann. [.] Am 9. März [1831] wurde die sog. Dotationskommission eingesetzt, die nun während acht Jahren das ganze Ausscheidungsgeschäft von 1798 bis 1821 langdauernden Untersuchungen unterwarf [.]. 1851 wurde die ganze Angelegenheit von Jakob Stämpfli in seiner Bernerzeitung noch einmal hervorgezogen, mit dem Erfolg, dass sich Volksversammlungen in verschiedenen Orten des Kantons Bern damit beschäftigten und vom Regierungsrat erneut Auskunft über das Schicksal des alten bernischen Staatsschatzes forderten. [.] Dem geistigen Urheber, Jakob Stämpfli, Redaktor der Berner Zeitung, brachte [der ganze Handel] 49 Ehrverletzungsprozesse von Patriziern ein, die sämtlich zu seinen Ungunsten ausfielen." HLS) -- Ad. 3.: "Die Leser werden in den folgenden Bogen keine Parteischrift finden. [.] Zu solcher einseitiger Darstellung der öffentlichen Zustände bequemt sich meine Feder nicht. Ich habe unbefangen untersucht, wie die Dinge geworden, was sie sind, und was aus ihnen werden kann" (p. V). Diesem eigenen Anspruch konnte Gallus Jakob Baumgartner (Altstätten 1797-1869 St. Gallen), Jurist, Politiker und historisch-politischer Publizist des Kantons St. Gallen, auch tatsächlich genügen: "Er ist einer der wenigen, der solche [ähnlich der zitierten] Worte nicht nur im Munde führte, sondern ihnen auch nachlebte. [.] Höhe des gesamtschweizerischen Blickpunktes, Darstellungskraft und schriftstellerisches Können haben sich in Baumgartners Werk zu einer Leistung vereinigt, hinter der eine staatsmännische Persönlichkeit steht."
