Contact seller5-star seller29 x 23". Striking color poster designed by Randy Tuten and Daddy Bread (Bill Bostedt). A printers' proof copy with color registers down the left side and is in fine condition. One of San Francisco's most famous annual traditions is the Masquerade Ball, originally promoted as the Hookers' Ball beginning in 1974. The Ball is held… at San Francisco historical landmark "Mint" (built in 1874). The Ball, which was billed as "the social event of the year for heterosexuals, bisexuals, trisexuals, nonsexuals, homosexuals, and other minorities who feel discriminated against," was a fund raising event for Call Off Your Old Tired Ethics (COYOTE), a civil rights organisation calling for the decriminalisation of prostitution, founded by Margot St. James in 1973. Funds raised by the annual Balls went towards COYOTE's advocacy efforts, newsletter and bail fund.

Some handling and wear, a few discreet staple holes, tape remnants and adhesive-pull to extremities, with a shallow loss to upper edge at center, and and some brief writing in pen along the l…ower margin; Very Good. Humorous original 1996 campaign poster for Margo St. James's bid for a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. "Although her 1980 campaign for the Republican presidential nomination had been an activist stunt, her 1996 run for a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors was for real, and she came in seventh out of 28 candidates in the race for six at-large seats. When one seat was later vacated, then-Mayor Willie Brown refused to appoint her, instead choosing now-governor Gavin Newsome" (The Bay Area Reporter, January 16, 2021). 88390.
