Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Essay from the year 2016 in the subject Politics - International Politics - Topic: Development Politics, , language: English, abstract: Nowadays regional and national policies are intertwined with and influenced by global policy actors. In this era of globalization, education policy is no longer an exclusive matter of the nation state, and it becomes a concern for an international agenda. According to Heyneman, with an increased concern of international agencies such as the World Bank, national education policies, in one way or another, are inevitably framed by global actors. As seen by Molla, more than at any time before, international agencies and donors make use of diverse mechanisms to manipulate policy directions in aid beneficiary countries. Sub-Saharan African countries are resource dependent on external agencies through aid, grants or loans; and this fact often forces them to follow the policy decisions taken by their donors. In this essay, an attempt is made to discuss the World Bank's approach, its strengths and limitations with regard to education sector policy interventions in Sub-Saharan Africa focusing on the Ethiopian context. In view of this, the paper briefly juxtaposes Ethiopia's political, economy and socio-cultural context with that of the World Bank's ideology and orientation. Based on this, reflection and criticisms have also been forwarded. Finally, a conclusion is drawn and the resulting implications are presented. The essay argues that international policy actors, mainly the World Bank, tend to impose policy recommendations and reform programs to Sub-Saharan Africa regardless of the context of the particular nation states. Moreover, the paper intends to stress that although the World Bank asserts pursuing a comparative orientation in its policy studies and intervention, its practices in low-income countries witnessed that the Bank often infused ideologies which might have worked well in other part of the world. More specifically, I argue that controversial neo-liberal policy prescriptions were enforced in Ethiopia's national education sector without having aligned them with the country-specific situations.…

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2015 in the subject Economics - Finance, grade: Masters, Addis Ababa University (National bank of ethiopia), language: English, abstract: The primary objective of this paper was to identify the root causes of the problems and challenges faced by Ethiopian microfinance sector and to, subsequently, recommend remedial measures. In depth interviews have been used to identify and understand the problems and challenges faced by microfinance institutions. This study depicted that Primary cause for all problems is fund shortage and; in turn, the primary cause for fund shortage is insufficient start up equity capital. In addition, ownership structure is identified as supplementary cause of governance problems. Finally, it is recommended that solving these couple of problems is a must to overcome all challenges of the sector as taking measures on other problems is unlikely to provide long-lasting relief from the undesired effect.…

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Thesis (M.A.) from the year 2011 in the subject Computer Science - Applied, grade: Very Good, Addis Ababa University, course: NAtural Language processing, language: English, abstract: The number of Amharic documents on the Web is increasing as many newspaper publishers started providing their services electronically. The unavailability of tools for extracting and exploiting the valuable information from Amharic text, which is effective enough to satisfy the users has been a major problem and manually extracting information from a large amount of unstructured text is a very tiresome and time consuming job, this was the main reason which motivate the researcher to engage in this research work. The overall objective of the research was to develop information extraction system for the Amharic vacancy announcement text. 116 Amharic vacancy announcement texts which contain 10,766 words were collected from the Ethiopian reporter newspaper published in Amharic twice in week. For this study, nine candidate texts are selected from Amharic vacancy announcement text, these are organization, position, qualification, experience, salary, number of people required, work agreement, deadline and phone number. The experiments have been carried out on each component of a system separately to evaluate its performance on each components, this helps us to identify drawbacks and give some clue for future works. The experimental result shows, an overall F - measure of 71.7% achieved. In order to make the system to be applicable in this domain which is Amharic vacancy announcement.…

Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. This book is a self-contained guide to the world of quantum optical processes which addresses different aspects relevant in quantum optics and quantum information. The basic descriptions, measurement techniques, possible sources, nonclassical features, practical implications and applications of the quantization of light and its interaction with matter, are explored. The observed quantum properties such as coherent superposition, entanglement, nonlocality, decoherence and no-cloning, are discussed. The quantum optical processes such as continuous variable entanglement swapping, teleportation and telecloning from which follow the practical aspects such as quantum gate operations, cryptography and error correction are considered. In turn, the advantages and inherent challenges including the foresight in implementing continuous variable quantum communication and computation protocols are highlighted. The author gives a concise background with corresponding applications, the necessary mathematical derivation, simplified examples, illustrations and demonstrations, and the relative interpretations and outlooks. This book is intended to serve a multi-disciplinary readership, namely the atomic physics and quantum optics communities who seek to extend their research to applications, especially, to the field of quantum information processing as well as the theoretical quantum information community who builds up research on physically realizable systems such as optical setups and various atomic schemes. The content of this book also attracts other communities such as photonics who seeks to link research with continuous variable quantum information processing. This book is a self-contained guide to the world of quantum optical processes which addresses different aspects relevant in quantum optics and quantum information.
