En effet, les "terrifiantes" créatures de Monstres et Cie, qui tirent leur énergie des hurlements d'effroi des bambins, ont un léger défaut dans la cuirasse : ils ont peur des enfants. Une peur panique, qui prend une tournure dramatiquement drôle lorsqu'une (toute) petite fille parvient à se faufiler dans leur monde. Après une paire de Toy Story et l'excellent 1001 pattes, les équipes de Pixar réalisent encore une fois un coup gagnant avec cette histoire de monstres parfaitement réussie. Animation parfaite, personnages attachants ? au premier rang desquels une adorable boule de poils bleus ?, scénario prenant et surtout humour omniprésent, tout concourt à faire de ces 90 minutes un pur moment de bonheur. Sans doute destiné à un public plus jeune que ces prédécesseurs, Monstres et Cie séduira néanmoins également les adultes, notamment grâce à ce DVD en tout point parfait et qui permet en outre de profiter du film dans une version originale au casting ahurissant (John Goodman, Billy Crystal, James Coburn [!], Steve Buscemi). --Edmond Corgé Jacques Sullivent - dit Sulli - est aux yeux de tous les habitants de Monstroplis une vraie Terreur d'élite. Assisté de Robert Razowski, alias Bob, un drôle de mini-cyclope vert, il n'a pas son pareil pour horrifier les bambins. Ce grand monstre sait comme personne pétrifier et tétaniser sans jamais toucher, puisque tout contact physique avec un enfant humain serait mortel. Mais les temps sont durs pour le duo de terreur : les enfants ne hurlent plus aussi facilement qu'avant et la ville est au bord de la crise d'énergie. La ville de Monstropolis tire son énergie des cris des enfants que les monstres recueillent. Mais lorsque Sullivent et Bob laissent malgré eux une fillette pénétrer leur monde, c'est eux qui ont peur ! Quatrième film des studios Pixar totalement réalisé en images de synthèse, cette comédie fantastique fait autant preuve d'imagination que de perfection dans son traitement visuel. Et le cocktail fait mouche auprès des petits et des grands. Livre.
