    Hardback. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 1928. First edition. xi, 295pp., 3 pages of advertisements, 7 full-page black and white illustrations, and many illustrations within the text. This is the first-hand account of a man's adventures in big-game hunting in India, including tigers. It was published using the author pseudonym "Silver Hackle", who has since been identified as Albert George Shuttleworth. He also wrote the book, "Indian Jungle Lore And The Rifle: Being Notes On Shikar And Wild Animal Life." It includes the following chapters: Tigers, A Man-eating Panther, The Crafty Lumbwana, Wanderings in the Sewaliks, The Life of Ursus Labiatus (The Sloth Bear), The End of the Chilpi Shaitan, The Spotted Terror, A Small Shoot in the Lower Himalayas, A Little Bit of Poaching, My First Bison, Types of Native Shikaris, and Horns and Antlers. The book is bound in the original yellow-brown cloth covered boards with black titling on the spine and front board and a red illustration of a tiger's head on the front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with shelf wear and soiling to the boards and patches of darkening and bubbling to the cloth on the rear board. The titling on the spine is very worn and is now indistinct and the titling on the front board is also worn. The corners are lightly bumped and the spine ends are more heavily bumped with a little damage to the cloth at the top of the spine. The spine is slightly cocked. The contents are tight and clean with two names written on the title-page and a small purple name stamp on the back of the front free endpaper.
