Soft cover. Condition: New. Contents: Preface An Introduction to Sensors and MEMS: Current and Future Technology Automotive Applications of Microelectromechanical System (MEMS) Magnetism, Magnetic Sensors and GMR Technology The Fundamentals and Value of Infrared Thermometry Quartz Rotation Rate Sensors and High-Temperature Ceramic Sensors Sensors and Transmitters Powered by Fibre Optics and a Study of High-Temperature Fibre Optics Pressure Sensors Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) and Wireless Sensor Networks Understanding and Applying Intrinsic Safety Sensors and Instrumentation for the Detection and Measurement of Humidity Remote Sensing Technology and its Applications Sensor Technology in Manufacturing Applications Index Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) can be defined as self-configured and infrastructure-less wireless networks. WSNs monitor physical or environmental conditions, such as temperature, sound, vibration, pressure, motion or pollutants and cooperatively pass their data through the networks to the central location or sink where it can be observed and analysed. The characteristics of these devices and the operating principles, including those of MEMS (micro-electromechanics system), which are the current trends in sensor devices fabrication, have been discussed. This book is about sensors and their applications in various fields like automobiles, wireless sensor networks, humidity sensing devices, manufacturing and medical applications. Each chapter contains necessary schematic diagrams coupled with three categories of review questions. This volume is about sensors and their application in various fields like automobiles, wireless sensor networks, humidity sensing devices, manufacturing, and medical applications amongst others. This book provides presentations of various types of sensors along with transducers that are used in today's industrial scenario. It describes in detail the comprehensive state of present-day technologies.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Wireless communication is the fastest growing segment of the communication industry. Explosive growth of wireless systems coupled with the features of laptop and palmtop computers indicate a bright future for wireless networks of stand-alone systems or larger networking infrastructure. However, many technical challenges remain in designing robust wireless networks that deliver the performance at assured level. In any urban or metropolitan scenario implementations of wireless network propagation models are necessary to determine the characteristic of propagation using a medium. In this book cost231 Walfisch and Ikegami empirical propagation model has been investigated theoretically and a new correction factor has been introduced to improve the path loss factor. Here QualNet 5.0 is used to simulate a given scenario with respect to cost231 WI model and new proposed corrected model is analyzed. With the theoretical and experimental analysis it has been concluded that the limitation of cost231 WI propagation model for shadowing effects of wireless network design in dense urban scenarios, can be minimized with this correction factor.
