A Desmond tumor is a very low grade sarcoma, only 10% chance to recur. I know with the lifestyle adjustments in this book I learned and… do, the chance of recurrence is probably zero. Recurrence, or cancer coming back is fatal in this disease, as I read in Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center literature. The next thing I want to mention is, the price you pay for this book is the cost of printing this book. I just rounded off the pennies of the cost figure provided by the publisher, to make it a lucky number. The number .38 means being alive and thriving. I am a physician specialing in cancer treatment. That is: I am an ocologist. For the last 10 years before my retirement. I "preached" lifestyle interventions to my cancer patients, in addition to them receiving standard treatments. I hoped to treat them better. I did not have much expectations in life-style-change ended up controlling cancer in the beginning. Why, simply, cancer is a hell lot of a disease. You don't expect little things like exercise, which is one of the seven life-style interventions, could do much against this devilish disease, isn't it? But to my big surprise, patients with bad cancers that were expected to survive abut 1 or 2 year. Instead, they survived 3, 5, and 7 years. And it was most of them! I was exhilarated. Patients and families were happy. They were smiling. Can you imagine a person with "terminal" cancer, or their family, smiling genuinely? But, after all, a few more years is a few more years. My once sad oncologist life was turned into an acceptable one. I thrived and got the highest rating. Thanks. MY oncologist life used to be a sad one. For more than 30 years I was sad all the time inside, but now I am a happy oncologist. I would love to work till the day I die. But there was something more important. There was another calling. All the cancer patients in the world may not have known this cancer-fighting weapon they can pick up and work miracles. In the web world one can access Google or others, and find millions of ways to fight cancer, as one can read. What is the real thing? As a cancer survivor and a cancer specialist, I know. My patients' case- histories assured me of what really can beat cancer. So I reluctantly retired, though it was already beyond my retirement age - just to write books to help prevent cancer recurrence. I was reluctant, for I loved my cancer patients, and enjoyed treating them. But I have to do it. This is a higher calling. If you hesitate to believe that simple lifestyle interventions could help you prevent a good cancer from coming back, I understand. Good cancer coming back? Yes. Good cancers do come back, given time. Though the chance is small. Even stage zero breast cancers can come back by 20% or 30% chance. Stage zero here is ductal breast cancer in situ. No recurrence! Unbelievable. But I searched my memory hard, I really don't remember even a single case of a good breast cancer that ever recurred. It does not seem real. Could it be I am getting senile? No, that is what the impression I have. I am smiling on this fond memory. Moderate amount of exercise is one of the 7 lifestyle interventions I emphasized in this book. How powerful is it? Two major studies showed it prevented cancer by 40-60%. It also prevented cancer recurrence. Hail to these two big studies from major US universities. They have costed more than two hundred million dollars. It is worth every single penny. There are other similar studies showing the same percentage caner prevention for different cancers, just doing simple exercise like walking. There are studies from all over the world confirming that. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. For 58 years, I have been trying to find the total cure of cancers, started in 1969 when I worked as a radiation therapy (RT) technologist in Hong Kong. In 1971, I came to the United States, worked in Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in mid-town Manhattan as a RT technologist,…and attended pre-medical studies at Hunter College of the City University of New York at night, just 3 city blocks away from MSKCC. After graduation in 1981 from the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Medicine, I have been treating cancer patients as a physician since. I kept up with the cancer research side, and saw its meandering roads through the recent decades. In this book, I wrote all the essence of those times and landmark findings, including how the real cause of cancer was found in the mid 1980's with the HIV epidemic, when the virus damaged young folks' immune systems, lots of cancers started in a lot of those patients with weakened immune system. Later years when the AIDS virus was treated well, the patients immune system became a lot stronger, and cancers became a lot less. Showing cancers happen with a weakened immunity, yet when it is restored somewhat, cancers can be kept at bay, even in the HIV patients. My patient all improved their immune systems easily.In the mid 1990's, I studied 600 papers from population studies that each costed hundreds of million dollars. Their findings pointed to seven lifestyles, diets and releasing the stress can beat up cancers very well, by each one of the anti-cancer tips, like preventing cancers at 40% more with exercises alone. I gave patients all the seven findings from 400 better-run studies, I called them the seven anti-cancer tips in this book. Their survival figures were all much superior to textbook statistics. The patients with terminal cancers after conventional treatments, as textbooks say would survive about a year, but my similar patients with conventional Rx plus the seven anti-cancer tips, survived 3 to 5 times longer for most of such patients. The ones with non-terminal cancers, there were more than 1000 such patients I treated over the last 15 years in my medical oncologist career, text book recurrent rate at 20% to 30%, would yield 200 to 300 of the patients with cancer recurred (came back), and most likely died from it. Yet, I only had two of my patients with cancers came back, not 200 to 300. That should prove Nostradamus of the Balkans' prophecy of "The day will come when cancer will get tie up with iron chains" is accurate (She is accurate 85% of the time. But to be objective, this results need well controlled studies to prove its scientific value.) But this is a real world finding, I honestly recorded what happened as it was in each case. But doing all those seven anti-cancer tips, the original papers showed patients' quality of life with cancer is a lot improved. So, at the least, as you can see, my offerings would fit "First, do no harm" as Hippocrates urged each of us physicians to remember. That is, this book would do no harm. In fact, I imagine it will do a lot of good.So I feel very much at ease to try to get this book published before studies to prove it, which is very important to do, for simply because saving lives trumps the proof. The key important reason for making the events of this anecdotal cases real is the great changeable nature of the immune system, it can be easily restored to repel cancers, as I will describe scientifically the ways to do it in the book in details. The book is written like a novel of science fiction, yet it is a serious account, full of patients' cases of mine, and cases I borrowed from other health gurus' books, which I evaluated with my medical knowledge and thought their stories are legit. Most of them are well-trained M. D.'s, and most of them are NY Times best sellers.
