Hardback small, dustjacket, good condition (in good dustjacket), top edge tinted, maps, figures, fore-edge foxed, pages lightly toned, reverse side jacket lightly toned & marked (flap not clipped, rear cover marked, minor edgewear), protected by removable semiarchival plastic sleeve. 318 pp. Edward Shackleton, the noted polar explorer, gives a vivid description of a winter spent far inside the Arctic Circle: the Oxford University Ellesmere Land Expedition of 1934 to 1935. The expedition consisted of Oxford University students with leaders. They spent the winter of in northern Greenland, and then split into three groups to explore further, one group discovering a new mountain range. A little cheap book in the Blue Jacket series from Hodder & Stoughton. .
