Wamulu - titolo che richiama un fiore giallo del deserto che cresce abbondantemente ne…lla zona di Alice Springs ed è usato come materiale di base per dipinti o realizzazioni artistiche sul terreno - raccoglie l'opera di arte collaborativa del collettivo formato da Ted Egan Tjangala, Dinny Nolan Tjampitjinpa, Johnny Possum Tjapaltjarri e Albie Morris Tjampitjinpa. Si tratta di un progetto artistico eccezionale che ha preso forma nel deserto dell'Australia centrale tra il 2002 e il 2005. Il progetto aveva l'obiettivo di rendere permanenti i dipinti sul terreno che sono per loro stessa natura effimeri. Si tratta di un'antica forma d'arte, molto probabilmente risalente a migliaia di anni fa, creata originariamente per scopi cerimoniali e distrutta una volta che il rituale o la cerimonia era terminata. Mai prima d'ora sono state create opere d'arte durature attraverso l'utilizzo degli stessi materiali e delle stesse tecniche dei tradizionali dipinti sul terreno. I motivi di queste opere corrispondono alle principali visioni delle regioni desertiche: il Fuoco, l'Acqua e l'Emù. Il processo di realizzazione richiede un'interazione coordinata tra il proprietario (kirda) della storia legata alla Visione e il "poliziotto" o manager (kurdungurlu) che lo assiste. Questi dipinti contemporanei sono il risultato di una performance, di un evento comunitario. Il canto è una parte fondamentale e integrante del processo, che si svolge nell'oggi. Il canto accompagna la realizzazione materica dei dipinti, così da sottolineare la continuità del legame con la creazione ancestrale. Libro.
