ALS from Private Secretary of South Carolina Governor Robert Kingston Scott regarding Request to Have Large Quantities of Combustible Matter from the Powder Magazine near The State Capital Removed During the Reconstruction Era. Columbia, South Carolina, December 21st, 1869 One page original letter, with two additional "copy" letters attached. Letter written by the Private Secretary of South Carolina Governor Robert Kingston Scott on the official Executive Department Letterhead to W. Finneger (?) Keeper of the State House. The letter is a formal request to have large quantities of combustible matter from the magazine removed from the grounds of the SC State Capitol building. Tri-folded, with removable binding clip along the middle of the top edge. Legible and in excellent condition.
