Light Blue Cloth Hardback. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good to Very Good. First Edition. 1965. First edition. xxviii, 217pp. Critical foreword by Yvor Winters. Frederick Goddard Tuckerman (1821-1873) was an American poet, remembered mostly for his sonnet series. Apart from the 1860 publication of his book Poems, which included approximately two-fifths of his lifetime sonnet output and other poetic works in a variety of forms, the remainder of his poetry was published posthumously in the 20th century. This complete collection of his poetical works has been edited with an introduction by N. Scott Momaday, with a critical foreword by Yvor Winters. The book is bound in the original light blue cloth covered boards with green titling on the spine and a green illustration of a plant on the front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with noticeable fading to the spine and lighter fading along the top 1 3/4" and 1 1/4" of the fore edge of both boards. The spine ends and top corners are lightly bumped. The contents are tight and clean with the name Richard Kell written on the front free endpaper. We believe this to be Richard Alexander Kell (1927-2023), the Irish poet, composer and teacher, and many of the pages of the poems have his neatly written pencil notes and lining on the margins. The endpapers are slightly browned on the margins. The clipped dustwrapper has shelf wear with light soiling and the spine and top and fore edges are noticeably browned. The spine ends are bumped and nicked and up to about 3/4" is missing from along the top front and rear edges. There is a tear of about 1/2" on the top front edge and another tear of 1/2" on the front spine edge below a missing piece.
