VI, (2) 271 S. mit Frontispizportrait, OPappband, 8°. - Einzelband der umfangreichsten deutschen Gesamtausgabe der Werke des schwedischen Schriftstellers August Strindberg (1849 - 1912) von dem deutschen Übersetzer Emil Schering (1873 - 1951). In etwa 30 Jahren sind ca. 55 Bände i…n der Gesamtausgabe erschienen, die in Antiquariatskreisen den Beinamen "Der gelbe August" hat (wg. der einheitlich in gelb eingebundenen Bände). Die Übersetzungsleistung Schering gilt als umstritten, da er zum Teil "eigenmächtig und zensierend" in die Texte eingegriffen hat. Andererseits dokumentieren die Briefe, die Strindberg an Schering geschrieben hat, die Verdienste des Übersetzers, in dem dieser "ausufernde Geld- und Bücherwünsche bediente sowie Botendienste für den Dichter abarbeitete" (vgl. wikipedia). Einband u. Seiten gebräunt, oberes Kapital etwas beschädigt. Sonst gut. Buch.
