An uncommon copy of the sixth edition of this work, 'with the author's final revisions'.This work is dotted with illustrations throughout, including reproduced renderings of George Scharf, a contemporary British artist and art critic.This title features a lovely clean monochrome frontispiece, and 35 further vignette illustrations, an additional single monochrome plate, and a single double-side monochrome plate.The vignette illustration to p.305 is apparently mislabeled, as not present on that page. No evidence of removal.Collated, otherwise complete, including an unlisted illustration on p.501.Also features an additional 32 pages of publisher's catalogue. Bound in original blue cloth. Externally, smart. Rubbing to extremities. Bumping to spine tips, and head and tail. Mark to rear board. Fading to spine. Hinges starting, but firm. Internally, firmly bound, with occasional strain. Ink inscription to front blank. Pages generally bright and clean. Very Good. book.
