Jerry Pentland served in WWI with the Royal Flying Corps after service with the Light Horse at Gallipoli becoming one of Australia's first Aces. Afetr the war he joined the newly formed RAAF, then flew as a private charter pilot on the goldfields of New Guinea. In WWII he served as an instructor, then with his New Guinea experience invaluable, commanded No. 1 Communications Flight, organising airstrips for emergency landings and rescue missions, followed by work on New Guinea's first radar grid. He stayed in New Guinea after the war, becoming a trader and later establishing a pioneering coffee plantation. Size: 8vo.
