The aim of the archaeological guide to the territory of Hierapolis in Phrygia (Pamukkale) is to present the results of the research conducted by the Italian Archaeological Mission since 2005. This research has sought to reconstruct the pattern of settlement in this area from Prehistor…y to the Byzantine epoch and to draw an archaeological map. The investigated area includes the northern side of the valley of the river Lykos (the current Çürüksu), where Hierapolis was located, and the plateau of Uzunp?nar, delimited to the north by the course of the river Maeander. The research has also covered part of the nearby plateau of Çal, which might have fallen within the territory administered by Hierapolis, at least during the mid-Imperial period. After presenting the main archaeological evidence regarding the period before the foundation of Hierapolis, chronologically corresponding to the period from the Bronze Age to the Phrygian epoch, the volume provides a detailed description of the organisation of the chora of Hierapolis from the Hellenistic to the Byzantine periods, including the extensive quarries (of marble, travertine, alabaster and polychromatic breccia), the aqueducts that supplied the city, the ancient road network, the sacred areas, and the farms and villages with their relative necropolises.

Il nucleo centrale dell'opera e la carta archeologica della città e delle necropoli, realizzata dai ricercatori dell'Istituto per i Beni Archeologici e Monumentali (IBAM) del Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche. Il volume, che sintetizza anche i dati acquisiti durante i più recenti scavi archeologici condotti dalle varie equipes impegnate nell'ambito della Missione, mantiene lo schema della prima versione dell'Atlante, illustrando i risultati delle ricerche in una cartografia numerica in scala 1:1.000 suddivisa in 53 fogli completamente rinnovati nella veste grafica, e, come il precedente, rappresenta uno strumento fondamentale sia per la ricostruzione storica e la programmazione delle ricerche sia per la gestione e la tutela di tutta l'area archeologica di Hierapolis. Su una base cartografica numerica a grande scala, opportunamente aggiornata, sono documentate tutte le evidenze antiche presenti nell'area urbana e nelle necropoli che la circondano, oggetto di nuove campagne di rilievo archeologico; questi dati sono integrati con quelli provenienti dall'interpretazione di immagini satellitari ad alta risoluzione e di numerose riprese aeree effettuate con palloni aerostatici e droni, oltre che con quelli ricavati da estese campagne di prospezione geofisica. After the last financial crisis, European policymakers harmonised banking regulation and revised the framework of banking resolution. The introduction of the bail-in legislation… is a natural experiment to improve the understanding of banking resolution and how it affected the funding strategies of banks. This book assesses whether financial stability has been strengthened by the change in banks' resolution policy with a focus on the bail-in. The book shows how banks changed their funding strategies, shrank their balance-sheets and relied more on deposits. The book will discuss inter-alia the mis-selling of bonds, which happened during 2012-2013, analysing whether the bond allocation changed after the bail-in launch. It discusses how the bail-in mechanism was deemed credible by equity holders and argues that the European case would have useful implications for third countries. Finally, the book relates this discussion to the possible collateral effects generated by the new resolution policy during and after the COVID-19 crisis, which will be of particular interest to researchers and policymakers in banking and financial institutions.
