Rabi)** George Uhlenbeck and Samuel Goudsmit, Spinning Electrons and the Structure of Spectra" (Nature 117 No. 2938 pp. 264 265, February 20, 1926 in the issue of pp 257-292) and Llewellyn Thomas, The Motion of the Spinning Electron (Nature… 117 No. 2945 p. 514, April 10, 1926 in the issue of pp 540-592). Both papers appear in the full original format with wrappers and ads, each having a rubber stamp of the previous owner on the front wrapper. VG copies. The Thomas issue has a barely-perceptible ancient vertical fold through the middle of the issue. [++] Uhlenbeck and Goudsmit, introduced the concept of electron spin in 1925 this is the first appearance in English from the original of this groundbreaking work which explained the magnetic moments of electrons leading to a deeper understanding of atomic structure. The second paper introduces the Thomas relativistic adjustment which is essential for accurately describing the behavior of electrons in atoms by incorporating relativistic effects, enhancing the precision of quantum mechanical models. [++] I. I. Rabi said that Uhlenbeck and Goudsmit's omission for the Nobel Prize in Physics [for their work on electron spin] "will always be a mystery to me".
