Book was acquired from a Lafayette County, Mississippi estate with another book offering Wallace family and Como, Panola County, Mississippi linkages; this book's Wallace might very well be Col. J.M. Wallace (1818-1900) who is buried at Como's Friendship Cemetery in an extended family plot which includes one Caroline A. Wallace (1834-1925). "Colonel" was often a southern honorific bestowed upon wealthy citizens whether they achieved that rank in military service or not. Cursory research locates a Captain Wallace leading Company A of the 9th Mississippi Infantry mustered from DeSoto County during the Civil War.
