Eine klare begriffliche Unterscheidung wird in dessen nicht in allen Beiträgen geleistet. Dennoch sind hier anregende Beiträge versammelt, u.a. von George Ritzer ("Die Globalisierung des Nichts "), der die inhaltliche Gehaltlosigkeit dessen, was Globalisierung darstellen soll, kritisiert. Miriam Meckel ("Globalisierung und Kommunikation") sieht die Globalisierung nicht so sehr als ökonomisches, sondern eher als kommunikatives System an. Rolf Gössner ("Reiseverbote in einer grenzenlosen Welt?") geht auf die restriktiven staatlichen Reaktionen ein, die den Protesten gegen die Globalisierung folgten.
