Offered is the October 1943 issue (Vol. 2 No. 3) of "The Suggestion Box: Published for the Employees of U.S. Electrical Motors, Inc." published by U.S. Electrical Motors, Inc. out of Los Angeles, California. A left-stapled magazine printed o…n glossy paper and containing 20 pages including front and rear covers. Special Picnic Edition, with a large front cover group photograph ("What's more fun than a picnic! Picnic! People! Pies! Pretty Girls!") and packed with over 80 black-and-white photographs covering all activities of the picnic, each with a description, often whimsical, of the activity and names of the employees. "Beverly" (Jean Ruth), KNX radio personality who had two programs on the station ("Reveille with Beverly" and "Hello from Hollywood") was the picnic's Guest Star. The issue also contains the Picnic Schedule, List of Prizes, and President George T. Pfleger's Picnic Message to Employees and Their Families. Condition: front and rear covers detached but present and show periodic edge wear and a few short closed edge tears; 3" by 4" light waterstain to corner of each page (not affecting pagination or the majority of the photos, which are clean and crisp). A charming, delightful glimpse into what seems to have been a simpler past when lives moved slower and businesses cared about their employees. A rare publication.

Mit dem Einsatz von Rechensystemen in verschiedensten Bereichen steigen auch die Zahl und das AusmaB kritischer Anwendungen und somit die Anforderungen an die Zuverlassigkeit der eingesetzten Software. Techniken, die es gestatten, fehlerfreie, fehlertolerante und robuste Software zu erstellen, kommt daher eine neue Schltisselfunktion ftir zuklinftige Systeme zu. Bevor man jedoch spezielle Fragestellungen der Software-Fehlertoleranz und Software-Zuverlassigkeit angeht, erscheint es wichtig, den Stand der Technik in Theorie und Praxis zu erfassen und eine Bestandsaufnahme von laufenden Aktivitaten zu versuchen. Dieser Band gibt einen ersten Uberblick und will eine Basis ftir weitere Diskussionen schaffen. Er entstand im wesentlichen aus Beitragen zu einem Workshop an der Hochschule in Bremerhaven. Ziel des Workshops war der Informationsaustausch und die Diskussion zum oben erwahnten Problemkreis und zu verwandten Themen. Es nahmen 63 Fachleute aus den Bereichen Lehre, Forschung und Industrie teil.
