Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book analyzes the political maneuvering, diplomatic efforts, and military actions that preceded and took place during the Austro-Sardinian War of 1859. The author argues that the conflict was avoidable, as most of the powers involved had no vested interest in engaging in a war. The author identifies French Emperor Napoleon III's nationalism and ambition as the primary catalyst, re-examining the justifications for war and the convoluted negotiations that led to its outbreak. They also examine why Prussia, despite its saber-rattling and threats, ultimately withdrew from the conflict. Bringing to light little-known facts from recently available correspondence and diplomatic archives, this book provides a meticulously researched account of the events leading up to the war, challenging traditional understandings of the conflict's inevitability. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Manuscript / Paper Collectible First Edition Signed
Kein Einband. Condition: Gut. Ohne Schutzumschlag. 1. Auflage. Eigenhändiger, signierten Brief des Kunsthistorikers und Schriftstellers Rudolf Marggraff (1805-1880). Mit einem Nachtrag seines Bruders, des Schriftstellers, Journalisten und Literaturkritikers Hermann Marggraff (1809-1864). Datiert München, den 26. Dezember 1838. Hochwind."
