Gift inscription on first title page written by the translator (Anthony Rudolf) to Olwyn Hughes (1928-2016…), sister and literary agent of poet laureate Ted Hughes; "For Olwyn, The first, and hopefully not the last. Best wishes, Tony", dated June 1969. Pencil corrections in similar hand on p21 and p45. No other inscriptions. Appears hardly read. Dusty purple unclipped dust jacket with sun toned spine and vertical bar on fore edge. Shelf wear to top edge and tail of spine of dust jacket. Laid in is a typed translators' note on 2pp A4 paper relating to "The Journals of Pierre Menard". On reverse is a hand written note to Mr Macbeth (possibly the poet George Macbeth?) signed by Anthony Rudolf. Signed by Translator.
