Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book details the history of the surgical treatment of a range of wounds, dislocations, fractures, hernias, and other ailments. Arranged by category, the author begins with a discussion of what was widely believed to be wound causes in the early 1800s. Wounds and their categorization are the main focus, with each section beginning with general observations before diving into specific case-by-case examples treated by the author. For example, the section on luxations begins with a historical recounting of the dominant ideas on the subject with famous case studies before presenting the author's view on the matter and remedies they believe are most effective. The author goes on to address hernias, which are given similar treatment, where they are defined, noted as being rare, and then broken down by type including intestinal, stomach, and the most common - epiplocele and cystocele. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
