Rotella è uno straordinario inventore di forme,… un giocoliere talvolta ironico che non si lascia imbrigliare da schemi eccessivamente rigidi o dogmatici. In questa onnivora vena sperimentale è possibile rintracciare la peculiarità della sua opera pittorica e grafica (Rotella è un eccellente disegnatore) che evita l'identificarsi con uno stile in una perenne ambiguità dialettica. Famoso soprattutto per i suoi dècollage, la produzione su carta sembra indipendente dalla sua attività principale, eppure documenta una fase molto creativa della sua carriera. Book.

Questa non è precisamente la classica autobiografia di un maestro, ma la precisa volontà di Mimmo Rotella di annotare su pagina (lui che pure era conosciuto per un'incredibile memoria) pochi anni di una vita che per un po' gli è sembrata scorrere troppo in fre…tta: dalla metà degli anni Sessanta (quando già è riconosciuto tra i grandi del Nouveau Réalisme) alle ultime pagine scritte a Milano durante la preparazione del festival organizzato in occasione del decimo anniversario del Nouveau Réalisme (novembre 1970). In mezzo c'è tutto il suo mondo, le sue donne, i suoi pensieri, le distrazioni, le amicizie di un giorno e quelle di una vita, galleristi e artisti, le serate a Saint-Germain e quelle nello studio di Rue Clément, le incursioni a Milano, i ricordi romani, qualche visita nella natia Calabria e i viaggi a New York, Londra, Tunisia, India, Nepal. L'edizione è identica alla prima edizione Sugar del 1972, ma rivista graficamente e arricchita di una novantina d'immagini dall'archivio della Fondazione Mimmo Rotella che riguardano il periodo narrato nel libro.
