Cometti provided the illustrations and Morton the text material, both covering aquatic life and marine plants close to the shoreline, the inhabitantts found on the shore and the vegetation, animals and other life forms in the land fringe, revealing an amazingly diverse environment in a generally narrow strip. Working from north to south the book examines 38 coastal areas in NZ.
